Did you guys see that 12lb gold nugget on the news this morning? Some guy found it in Australia with a metal detector. It's estimated to be worth $500,000.00.

Wish I could join, won't be back in the states until May. Sounds like a great trip though.

Hi Dave,

Well, if there are nuggets just laying around I might as well go!

How many are confirmed? Any problem bringing my 13 YO son, beside the obvious?

Costs?

Thanks!

No costs other then what you bring for yourself. This is a free event. So far I think we have near a dozen pretty intent on going. And of course you can bring your son! I know my son loved it from 5 years old til now! He's 17 now.

I am off work here at 3:00 so I will catch ya'll tomorrow! Have a good night!

Have to make it up to the wife! But, I will be securing the Edith E cabin the evening of Valentine's Day-Feb. 14! It's the ONLY weekend that will work for me this year and February has been an annual tradition for now 15 years!

A portion of this post may seem reduntant ragarding my mention of possible closures. But, I am reposting this from my Facebook page simply as an announcement.

"For those of you interested in/or going to the February 15-17, 2013 Goler Gulch/Wash trip to the Edith E. Cabin, there will be no shooting in the canyon this trip for various reasons. You may have noticed my posts regarding a future clean up and repairs to this cabin and location. I have been emailing back and forth and on the phone with BLM and obtaining information from High Desert Multiple Use Coalition, Inc. There is a current study being conducted regarding the use of the area, the impact of visitors, vandalism/mistreatment of dwellings and the possible future closure(s) of up to 80-85% (estimated) closures of the currently open trails and roads. I have undertaken with the help of several others, the efforts of protecting this cabin in particular. However, with the laws regarding shooting in this canyon allowing ONLY hunting in designated areas during certain seasons, the BLM's watchful eyes via air and my intentions for this location, I must ask that there be no shooting on this trip. It not only breaks the law but potentially impedes my efforts regarding this location.

Thanks!"
