I am familiar with the area but what is this Iron Canyon you speak of? Goler Gulch is a nice little tight spot. The scenery beyon that canyon is awesome and the mining in that area is extensive with some old buildings/relics to visit.

Iron Canyon and Benson Canyon both share an entrance off Redrock-Randsburg Road just a little west of Mesquite Canyon. Iron Canyon is how I ended up really getting to know and love this area. It's a mostly 2WD road, but has a few fun little spots, some mines/small tunnels in the hillsides along the way up to Morman Flats which has a pretty cool view. I like how it ties into Holland Camp and a handful of other routes that intersect with it, taking you to all sorts of cool places in those El Paso Mountains...it's just a fun little route.

Yeah, the Narrows are pretty scenic as it changes in color, texture and terrain over the course of just a few short miles.

I will definately being taking some of the easy-moderate portions our there...I want to hit Last Chance Cyn again, it's been a few years. But, I am making some repairs to the XJ and it all depends on what I get done between now and then...it's my DD and ALL I have at the moment...I already have repaired a torn uniframe up front...anyone with a Cherokee knows this area near the steering gear, and last year, I tore the axle end control arm mount nearly off the D30. Gussets and such are in order til I either get another rig and go nuts on it or larger axles, etc in this one...dunno yet. lol. Anyway, I can't wait!

Hey guys, got all of my u-joints installed Sunday and I am ready for some fun. Everything went well and I made sure to grease all of the parts that were rusted together so it will come apart easier next time.
That and I replaced those damn cheesy 12 point bolts and the external torqs bolts, man I hate those things! I found a great source for any bolt needs, well at least in my town. Meinert's Industrial Supply here in Ridgecrest at 760-384-4754.

See ya!

I'll keep this run in mind. Going Dec 1st with a large group from the WF board as well. It really is a neat and fun place.

Yeah, it is. I like it because there's history and different types of wheelin' for all tastes basically. I am pretty sure this year I will be keeping it "moderate" on my XJ since I tore it up out there last year, lol. But, either way, I simply NEED to get out there and get away from society and civilization for a few days! Buds, beer, bonfires.....and some serious R & R!

I've always wanted to take a tour of Mojave. This run will hit what's left of the Barker Ranch?

Nope. This is Goler Gulch/Wash in Goler near Red Rock and Garlock, Ca. Not the Panamints. One of these days I will get up that way tho!
