Another reason to buy it is that the parts are worth more than the car.
You could have someone rev it and watch for smoke
also check for smoke at idle
and smoke from crankcase
I just bought a 94 grand 4x4 with close to 300k miles on it - guy wanted 500 but I offered him 300 - The tags were out by a few months so around 300+ to register. B4 spending the cash on reg I took it for smog - passed co and Hc but failed on visual smoke test when revved up.
I read online that if you run synthetic oil and a bunch of stp it could help - I plan to do this and change the plugs before I take it to the referee on Friday.
If it does not pass I may pull some aftermarket performance stuff off then drive it to Arkansas where my buddy can sell it for me or I could just part it out.
Shame cause it would be a great desert beater for this season
