over night trail

I am looking for a good over night trail in southern california. I live about 20 mins from cleghorn but my wife and i are looking for something we can go out all day then camp and have a fire then wheel out the next day. looking for a moderate difficulty and big enough my friend can get his k5 in there. thanks for any help... also we will be going the first week of december and anybody is welcome to go also.

We just did big bear this weekend and it was amazing. Get the day pass for $5 and you can camp anywhere 200 feet off the trail or stay at the holcolm valley campsite for $12. We spent literaly all day wheeling on saturday and half a day on friday but got ended short because my fuel filter supply line burst because of the cold and it's age

we were thinking about big bear but they are very strict when it comes to camp fires. i like to just find some where to camp and your not supposed to have fires up there unless in a camp ground with supplied fire pits

Yeah your best is probably the dessert. Try johnson valley maybe ocotillo wells (I think they're both dessert)

Yeah I know what you mean, mines my daily drive so my biggest fear is making it inoperable I have to drive it out to rancho cucamonga every other day but if you just take it easy I find breaking stuff is less of a possibility

I know a spot up by big bear. it's my spot and I have a no ******bags allowed
rule. it's to far out to have rangers bother you about fire. so PM me if interested.

i really wanted to go to big bear but i just don't want it to snow and completely change my plans at the last minute. so my wife and i decided to just do big bear in the summer. right now we are leaning towards calico. we are actaully going for my wifes birthday so she wants something at least a little scenic. and johnson valley looks just like the desert 2 minutes away and i figured the rocks at calico are red at least
