Great.
You take the 10 to the 86 to the 78.
Its to the west of the salton sea.
Lots of trails there.
It should be fun, my girlfriend is going to come along this time.

Glad you made it ok!
Come on down to Ocotillo.
I'll try to link a google map.

Well I expect that we will be down there around 10am.
By beginner stuff I mean nothing that requires a big lift or lockers and nothing with big rocks.
As far as which trails I am not exactly sure yet. do you have any recommendations?

Ocotillo Wells is great. Split Mountain Rd. which is next to the little cafe on the 78. If you go all the way down that road, you'll reach the Fish Creek Wash sign, turn right and follow it into the canyon. Its a perfect beginner trail.
Heres a link-

I recommend Sandstone Canyon

You may want to clarify a meet spot if you're wanting to meet up with people. The Ocotillo you're wanting to go to is actually Ocotillo Wells and is on the 78- there is another town called Ocotillo but it's along Interstate 8.

If you're looking for trails to run another suggestion would be to go into the little market on Split Mtn Rd and get an OHV map and then head into the OHV. The washes are great for doing some go fast stuff and I've always liked driving up and down Devils' Slide.

Good Luck- I'll probably be heading through Ocotillo Wells on Saturday after finishing a run through Anza Borrego. Maybe we'll see you at the Iron Door Bar across the street from the market.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I will check those out. I was looking at my trail book and i'd also like to go out to see the gas domes and the pumpkin patch. The gas domes trail is rated easy and the pumpkin patch one has a part that says it's moderate. So we can at least go as far as the end of the easy part. I went to the Tierra Del Sol safari down there last year so I know the area a little. But it's pretty big and there is so much to check out!

As far as meeting place On the map it looks like there is a gas station on the 78 at the location I have marked on this map. That seems like a good place to meet @ 10am,
PM me and i'll give you my cell number.
Also I will be on channel 6 on my CB and xhannel 8 sub 1 on my Walkie talkie.

Those in the LA area let me know if you want to meet up closer to LA and drive down together.

I'm going to Ocotillo this weekend. Here's a good map of Anza Borrego http://www.parks.ca.gov/pages/638/files/ABDSPmap.pdf
Lots of easy trails to explore. Were going to explore the south portion of the park. Going to check out the pictographs by Blair Valley then probably take Pinyon Mountain Rd down to the mud caves and Carrizo Badlands. Also might want to check out the Calcite mine area. Some good sightseeing up there. I have a few gpx files of Ocotillo if you want them.

Hey Guys,

I don't think I'll be able to make this one. Its too far away for me. I have other plans later in the evening. I think I'm going to head to Hungry Valley instead. I've never been so. But I'll definately be down in the future. Take some pics of the trails!

Just got back from Ocotillo. Great day!
Went out to the gas domes and then out to the pumpkin patch. There were quite a few jeeps out today.
