to play it on the safe side if your wanting to wheel Nor-Cal i would come sometime in mid may to early june because April is kinda risky with rain and late june-early july gets HOT

April is when most of the trails start opening up, May will probably be a little warmer though. If you go in the summer expect 100+ at some spots. A few good ones you might want to look at are Deer Valley, Strawberry and Slickrock. There is some good camping at Utica or Union Reservoir, I've heard Union is nicer but I've only been to Utica.

The trailhead to Slickrock is right at the Utica campsite, and Deer Valley and Strawberry aren't very far. All of these trails I've mentioned are rated about 5 out of 10, scenic as heck and in the same general area.
