sorry for the short notice for strawberry. i forgot about it until the last minute. the jeep was still packed from the rubicon trip ,which made it easy to go. there were a lot of jeeps on this one. it was a maintenance run that ghp does twice a year. most of us went in thru the caples lake side(boy what a beautiful lake) We cleared some overgrowth and picked up trash as we went. there wasnt much of either. the group that went in from the 50 side meet us in the middle. we had lunch and headed on to the 50 side. as we went we pulled some logs across some of the bypasses. the view of caples lake from the trail is one of the best sites in the area. this is an easy trail and if your looking for a challenge , this isnt the trail for you. if you want to drive thru ,enjoy the scenery and spend time with fellow jeepers ,then it does the job. its basically a fire road with a few obstacles, and a great view.

I did some research. The Mountain Mike's on Harding is no longer there (been over a year since I was there last.) It is now called Roseville Family Pizza. I have never been there since taken over and do not know how the food is. If we want to stay with Mountain Mikes then the Watt/Auburn Ave is the best place.

so does that mean strawberry is ridiculously easy? would it even be worth a NOR CAL run?

It depends on who is going if it's ridiculously easy. To me, it's easy, but I go there for the scenery and to help newer wheelers try out some off-roading. It's the perfect trial for newer wheelers with stock rigs to cut their teeth on. There is some hard sections, but you can go around them. It would be a decent trail for a Nor-Cal run, especially if you incorporate Deer Valley into it. Run both trails.
Here are a couple pictures of the harder sections. And, like I said, you can go around both of them.

looks and sounds like a good run for me. good beginner run. and then spend the night and run DV the next day. although i would probably need sliders and a gas tank skid for DV... i can get both of those, i just have to sell my old tires and RC cars

nice pics rebel!

if you guys decide to go to strawberry there is a snag up 50' over the trail that ghp couldnt get down. i think that a couple rifles cut shoot it down. it has a weak spot just waiting for a sharp shooter. they tried throwing up a line and tugging it down , but iut was out of reach. might be fun for the right crowd.

Thx for the comment. Strawberry was one of the first trails I did when I got my Jeep. I'll always remember it as the place where i got my first beauty mark. Good thing for the rocker rails haha.

i know metal says there is a bypass around the few hard areas and he would know more than me, but it seemed like 2 of the areas there were no bypasses, maybe i didnt se them. there not hard anyway. and even easier running from south to north as we did. the caples side is the easist side and doesnt get a little harder untill you get on the north side. a sami on 31" tires had no problem at all. there are a few spots that might scratch the side of your heep if not carefull.
