Nice area I used to hunt off that road. Watch out in the spring. beacuse of fires in the past they have bad runn-off on parts of that road

i would be game but....

1. when we were up there, there was only a couple feet of snow because the snow season was just getting going...

2. since it has been snowing and will continue to snow this whole week, the snow would be wayyyyyy too deep for even your jeep. it would be a stuckfest. but if we can find a nice trail that is not in snowfall area then that would be cool.

If it is snowing good around the HWY80 and HWY20 intersect, and sticking to the road, it's fun to go up through Grass Valley and hit Hwy 20 and run up to HWY80. There are side roads off of that route as well.
Or, head up past Forest Hill out of Auburn and just see how far you can make it.

Hey guys. I just found this thread and hope it's not too late to throw my name into the mix. I come up to Elk Grove just outside of Sacramento on various weekends. My dad and I work on and wheel a TJ and would love to join you all when I'm up here. Could someone either PM about upcoming plans or ask for my cell. I'm trail ready (as far as I know/hope).

Thanks Andy, I appreciate that. I live in Sonoma County but I visit my dad in Elk Grove which is right outside of Sacramento every other weekend. So chances are 50/50 if you go a weekend. Not too bad. Also, I unfortunately do not have lockers or locking diffs. I wish I did, but alas do not nor have the funds to get 'em. Do most people in the group have them? Do you? Thanks again.

Thanks for that little confidence boost. Besides, my TJ is a daily driver too, so if I need lockers extensively, then I probably shouldn't been wheeling there. Can't wait for the next run.

I will be up at Iron Mt. Rd. for some snow wheeling tomorrow. My club is doing the Trail Patrol for El Dorado County. So we will be up there to count vehicles and help stuck rigs. Come on up.
