If we are sitting around with nothin to do, my wife "makes" me take her somewhere. The list of our local haunts:
Red Rock Canyon - Last chance (the sites in the canyon), Nightmare, Black Rock
Dove Springs - Piute Nat'l Forest - not a lot of hard wheelin but the scenery is awesome and there is normally a "puddle" or two to splash around in
Los Angeles National Forest- another fire road run but things to see and do, especially on the old road.
Miller- she does her nails and make up on this trail
Rowher- First off road experience, terrified her, now she doesn't even get out of bed for it
Big Bear is a good day trip for us any trail is good, John Bull, Holcomb etc...
Calico- another good day trip but need a guide to show us something more than the Doran Loop
Death Valley in the winter/cooler times great day trip
Mammoth- our annual pilgrimage to White Mountain Research Station- Visit the oldest trees on the planet and spend some time at 13k ft. Great views, if ya never been, so worth the trip. Again, places to see back there that time has forgotten. More of a weekend trip but for the "locals" good thing to do.

Lot's more. Price we pay for being about 2hrs from everything. Downfall, two hrs back.
