Tj End of May (5-30,31,6-1) Strawberry, Deervally and slick rock

It should be OK by the end of the month so I'm heading up Friday to get some work done on my rig in Placerville, then hitting Strawberry, Deer Valley, camping @ Alpine lake Sat. night. and running Slick Rock Sunday morning prior to heading home.
Any one interested?

we have already got a run scheduled for slick rock 2 weeks after you, because the snow has been so slow to melt this year so please post what you see so we know what to expect. we will be camping at spicer lake hopefully. good luck and cant wait to hear how it was!!!

Our Jeep club will be running Strawberry on Saturday the 31st.

Definately stop and say hi if we see ya. We are not staying, just doin a day run. Depending on how fast we make it through strawberry we might hit deer valley also.

Hey All,

How difficult are these trails?

I have a bone-stock rubicon unlimited 6-speed and no 4-wheeling experience. I'd like to break her in without breaking her! Based on the expected trail conditions (i'm guessing still slushy?), lack of any aftermarket protection, and inexperience with wheeling, would I be over my head?

You may come home with a few scratches on these trails. I did Deer Valley in a stock tacoma back in 2002 and came out lucky. but the trail has gotten chewed up since then

The co-pres. of our 4x4 club just went to slick rock on Sunday (yep on mothers day and yes he is married with kids I don't know how he got so lucky) he says there is still a good 5 feet of snow in places but it was passable via a brand new winch, but by the time you go it should be very passable especially since we are looking at 2 day of near 100 degree weather this week and lots of wind, I will see if he took pictures and get him to post them, don't forget to let us know how your trip went

I think you'll be allright, just take care and listen to the more experienced people. I did slickrock in my stock Isuzu Trooper, your Rubi should have no problem.

We may hook up and wait for the wanders. as of now only a few people are going and non from here on the board. So we may diviate the trail trip a little and play on the slabs in the high country.

The eastern side of slick rock trail (Alpine Lake Side) had a good amount of snow left on it Mother's day weekend but with a winch and some teamwork was very passible. The trees like to pull us towards them because of the way the snow was melting. The lower side of the trail was dry as a bone.
