I'm president of a small CA4WDC affiliated club in Merced - Mid Valley 4-Wheelers.
Let me know if you guys ever want to get together to hit the trails. We spend most of our time in the Stanislaus and Sierra National Forests, but wouldn't be opposed to a run near the coast.

Sounds good to me, we are just a small start up group, that was our first run and it went well, everyone got along. I'm sure we can get something going.

You'd be fine, we had an XJ that made it up bald mountain with just pucks and cut front fenders.

Good news: Swamp Lake trail is now open for the season.
Bad News: My engine and transmission problems preclude me from enjoying it

Yeah, I been up to Whiskey falls area, Heartland and Buck Rock. Pretty moderate trails, Buck Rock area say lockers are recommended on certain trails. I haven't been to Gorman area yet.
