Idaho Desert Wheelin'

Got my (actually my wifes) '07 Sahara 4dr. in May but really had not had a chance to do any offroading until today. My wife went to Jackpot, Nv. with her friends so I went wheelin' with mine. We went south of town (Nampa) about 35 miles to the Owyhee desert and mountains. Most of the driving was just on open desert road, but, my friend assured me that we would make use of 4wd lo-range. We went into an area that followed a creek upstream to a place he goes camping. Nice rocky road but 2wd all the way. After we surveyed the camping area we went another 100 yards and around the corner to...the Creek Crossing! Well, not very deep or wide but very rocked and potholed. From this point it was 4lo for about a mile. Down the bank, cross the creek and up the other side. We weren't cross country driving but actually following an old wagon road. About ten times for that mile then turn around and back. What a Blast! I have 3 pics I'll try to post. May end up with just links but I'll try.[IMG][/IMG]

Somehow you have double img tags. When you hit insert image, just use the direct link from photobucket, or skip the insert image step and paste the one for forums with img code, it adds the img tags automatically so the links show up as embedded pics. Also need 50 posts/30 days I think as a member.

I was with another guy that grew up in the Owyhees so I don't know the name of the area. It was south of the Silver City road a couple of miles or so on the west side. there was a post at a fence line that had a box on it with maps and information about the area. I think it was a BLM or Fish and Game information

Looks like fun, I'll have to try and get to that spot. How long do you think it would take to get there from Boise?

This thread is pretty old, go check out the Idaho thread below, It's a pretty active thread and you will find local people willing to go wheel.

And to answer your question the Owyhees are about 35 to 45 minutes from Boise.
