LOL, anyone else find it funny that the longest posts on here in a LONG time are about sailing

EDIT: I also liked watching these guys. Simple boat, simple life.

Funny as heck guys follow your dreams, boats are a great adventure I have spent a lot of time on jet boats in the snake, salmon, and Clearwater rivers, I have even ran a jet in Canada a couple times, I have been fishing for salmon and steelhead since I was a little kid and running jets almost as long. Again follow your dreams.

Have you watched Linn and Larry's videos? They're my favorite. They are all about simple. And their boat is amazing!

I looked at the ones you linked and I'm not sure I can look at many more lol. It was ripping at my heart. I haven't sailed in almost 3 years now and haven't cruised for 5. It's brutal.

The Hans Christian with the tanbark sails is beautiful. Right up my alley haha.

I don't like the Amel. The rig is in between a ketch and a Yawl, and a Yawl rig is pretty useless.. A ketch, schooner, or cutter is best for cruising with two people! But the little mizzen on a yawl kinda screws everything up. Only time it would ever help is in really foul weather. You could run a little storm jib and a reefed mizzen and heave too for days. Other than that it's in the way, doesn't balance well, and actually kinda acts as a brake haha.

I can talk Jeeps all day. I can talk boats all my life...

Cheers

Here is Linn and Larry's rig. I can't get enough of Lyle Hess's designs. WHEN I go back to sea this is what it will be in...

Did you know Lyle Hess was from Idaho? Born in Blackfoot before moving to southern CA to become one of best small yacht designer ever. Pretty cool eh?

This one was a steal http://www.davidjonesclassics.com/sa...-cutter-88500/
If I had the money I would have made that pretty lady mine...Oh the adventures we would have had me and her...

Cheers

At this point, I don't know what works and what doesn't, I only know what I read and what I think looks good. I hate the newer "fake" stuff but would be OK with a newer boat built by a classic company (C&c, Amel, etc.). I don't mind the Hunters, Catalina's, Jeanneau, Beneteau, etc. because of the amenities but if I could afford a new one of those I could afford to outfit an older boat the way I would want it.

Never heard of them, but will be watching now!

Yeah, I'm definitely old school - but just like in the Jeeping world - I can't afford my own tastes

This thread is being dominated by sailing chat. Can you guys move this conversation to another forum or something?

This thread is for anyone in Idaho, to chat about anything they like. It's the appropriate thread for this.

Cheers

Thanks for the code again! Just placed my order for the eaton e-locker, $745 shipped!
Reading reviews on it indicates that the few people that use it are more than happy with it. Its one of those cases where its the underdog to ARB/OX and most people choose the more known brands. I guess I will give it a go!

When you get it, I wanna check it out! I'd rather have an e-locker than air/cable but there are so few reviews and the only person I know that knows someone that used one, said the carrier cracked on the Rubicon in an 8.8.

:/

Cheers

Can't wait to hear your full review. If it'll hold up to your v8 and 35s I'm sure it's plenty strong!

I'm assuming it's for your AMC20 yes?

Cheers

Nope my d44 front. I prefer to lock the front first, then move to the rear as funds allow. My opinion anyway.

Oh I agree with locking the front first.
I for some reason thought you already had a lunchbox up front. My bad!

Cheers
