Some folks use short shackle plates and that gives them some flex; I once used a uniball from a forklift which worked good but can't find them anymore.
I decided the best route to go would be to use heim joints at all the ends. The rear two I tightened until they were snug so they shouldnt move anywhere (except allow 10* side to side sway if needed). The front is not tight at all, it is loose which should allow the bar to pivot on that axis, along with the 10* of misalignment that the joint will allow. I drove it up a trailer loading ramp at work (about 24" or so high) and it seemed to work pretty well, not much binding at least at that point. I also installed a shackle at the front between it and the t-case mount (which I still have to reinforce) to allow fore and aft movement as the axle flexes.

MoparFreak69: Axle wrap bar looks good, post up some pics of how you mounted it. I need to build one for my XJ so I'm looking for ideas.

Redgper: The 8.8 is a decent swap into the YJ and is plenty strong, there are all kinds of people running it behind V8's with big tires. And if you have a 5" x 4.5" bolt pattern, like you should, then you're good to go. The only question I have is it 31 spline?

Here you go Chili. I decided to mount the top link to my truss, mostly to get better link seperation and to try to limit the anti-squat I introduced into the suspension. I get a bit of anti-squat (rear lift instead of drop on acceleration) but I may be able to overcome that with a spare tire and healthy rear bumper. The tabs and heims I ordered from Spidertrax. The tabs are 1/8" material, I figure if I notice tearing or other deformation I will just order duplicates of the axle tabs and weld them onto the existing tabs, with plug welds which should give me effective material thickness of at least 3/16" (since 2 1/8th plates welded together arent quite as strong as 1 1/4" plate itself).

Rear axle mounts;

Front mount; will reinforce the t-case skid with some 3/16" plate with plenty of plug welds along the bottom.

Lol I have Currie steering with the Savvy heat-treated tie rod. If that was bent, I'd have some SERIOUS problems!

Gotta replace the trac bar with a Currie one. Lets see 1 1/4" x .250 wall 4130 chrome moly and a Johnny Joint do that!

Guess what came in today

And people say the amc 20 is weak!!!?!!
The AMC gear is on the right, the left is the D44

The AMC pinion is also on the right, the D44 on the left.

Which one looks beefier to you?
