Here's a couple pics of my trip to Alaska...

Denali from about 60 miles away.

Temp in Fairbanks when I arrived. I believe it hit -29 that night.

Cooler at the gas station was broke - found a resolution! About 10 minutes of this and it was nice and cold - just like me!

Random pic on the way back to Anchorage...

All the pics are here. I'm a pic whore but I am also generally in a hurry (for no reason usually) so most of these pics were taken from the car.

TW - I didn't get a chance to do much in Fairbanks. When I arrived I did what I needed to do but then it was 7pm and I figured I had all day the next day but then some things at work blew up so I ended up sitting in my hotel until 1pm then heading straight to Anchrage for a dinner meeting! Let's just say I wasn't very happy...!!!!!

EDIT: I've got a couple of boring vidoes I'll be throwing up on Youtube sometime today.

Glad you made it back safe Chili. So how cold is -26? I can not even imagine standing outside at that temp. Cool pictures by the way.

Actually it's not that bad. As soon as you walk outside the snot in your nose freezes and if you're out for more than 2 minutes you better hope you have gloves on.

What's funny is when I got back to Anchorage and went to dinner it was -6 when I came outside and it felt like summer - there's a distinct difference between -23 and -6.

Growing up in Omaha we experienced some pretty low temperatures along with wind so this wasn't a big shock to me.

One of the ladies I work with lived in Fairbanks in the '70s and said she went into labor when it was -59...now that's gotta be cold...

Gracias.

It's not the snot in my nose or hands I'd be most worried about...

i find it's easier to adapt to the cold than it is to the heat. for that reason i'll probably always live somewhere cold. when it gets chilly, throw on more layers. when it gets hot it's like, take off some clothes, ... ...... ..... wtf.

just my two cents. =]

Jeepster stuff

Removed the top today and started to take the carpet out. 2 weeks ago we patched some holes in the top. Found a little rust in the floor but nothing that is rust through. I love the Jeepster topless. I took it for a drive around the neighborhood. The plan is to cover the floor in bed liner.

jeepster

Mocked up the first fender flare and found some more rust. Overall better than I would have figured for a 40 year old Jeep.

Excellent pictures Joe, keep them coming. I love these buildups, it's amazing how much you can learn from them.

Hey, on another note, a good friend of mine in the IOR found something pretty interesting in the land use arena. Below is a copy of his post and some links that are definitely worth watching.

************************************************** ****

Check out this update to the facts presented in the earlier "Travesty" post.

YouTube - FOX News Tracking Your Taxes 11.19.09

The word is getting out finally. And the organization responsible for both the original editorial, and this story that ended up on Fox News is The Western Legacy Alliance.

I wholeheartedly encourage people to check them out-- Western Legacy Alliance - Home - WesternLegacyAlliance

And join me in joining their organization if you are similarly minded. Their sole focus is publicizing our issues from OUR PERSPECTIVE. (for a change)

I met with these folks at an IRC meeting. They are good folks, and they are volunteers to our cause -- just like you and I.

Thanks...
Joe

Dang.... so close!

I'm in need of new rubber, but I only have rims for 15" or 16" wheels... 17" won't work
