Boise area day trip

Hello all, I'm going to be taking a trip to Boise to visit some family in mid November and would love to get out for a day and do some exploring. I have a fairly capable TJ, but am looking for more of a scenic trip to see some nature rather than a challenging wheeling run. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Probably hit snow then. I would try 8th street and or Robie Creek close to town. Silver City (ghost town) will be unaccessible due to deep snow by then. A drive up hwy 21 to Idaho City and a meal or dessert at Trudy's cafe would be a good idea. You would also pass the Hilltop cafe which has good eats. Lots of scenery that way, too.

8th st. Is a winner/definite possibility, but will probably be closed if you go straight up it. Follow shaw mountain rd (leads to table rock which is a pretty decent view of the city) to rocky canyon, take a left at the top of rocky canyon (snow permitting) and it will let you wander all the way up 8th to bogus (local ski hill). It's a crap shoot how much snow we'll have up there that time of year, your guess is as good as mine. Check back when you head this way and I'm sure someone will be more than happy to give a report!
