Saturday, April 19th is the SOLV Forest Clean-Up at Tillamook State Forest. Check in/registration (sign the SOLV Waivers) is 8:30 at the ODOT "Sand Shed" (at the entrance to Roger's Camp from HWY 6). The clean-up is from 9:00 to 1:00.

I'll be out there with my ATV Club... But the more folks that show up, the better. I'll be bringing 30 of the new TSF Trail Maps out there with me, so if you plan on showing up, let me know...and I'll make sure you get one of the maps.

Hey I'm doing a little local wheelin on Saturday with Oregon Bush Hackers, mostly scouting out in the Trask area of TSF. Please join us!

Hi, thanks for the invite. Unfortunately, I got the flu, started yesterday night. It sucks to be sick on Memorial Day weekend. Does your club have a website?

Hello Oregon,

I just moved into Portland. I am looking to install a 3-4" lift, tires, and maybe re-gear my TJ. Any recommendations on reputable 4x4 shops that are affordable?

"Affordable" shops in Portland....good luck. Best thing to do is shop around.

Well, I know that 4-wheel parts on 82nd (close to Division) can do the tires/lift/regear all in one shop. Good thing about this shop is you can pick all your parts from the 4wd Hardware Catalog and not have to pay any shipping. I used to have a hook-up there, but he was just laid off a week or 2 ago. I know and go wheeling with one of their mechanics too. I'd trust him with my gear, as he's saved my arse on the trail before. 4-wheel parts always has some sort of sale going on too... sometimes they are really good. I had a 20% off coupon last year for one item, and it saved me a bundle on a new front bumper.

I had my lift put on by Precision 4-Wheel Drive in Clackamas. They did a good job on the lift, but I don't know that the price was any better than I'd have gotten anywhere else.

There's also Rob's Off Road in Clackamas (about a mile from Precision). I know nothing about that shop...but they might be worth calling.

Woody's 4x4 in Vancouver is close, but you'd have to pay sales tax on service charges.

Leonard's Off Road out in Hillsboro has a bit of a following as well.

I'll second Leonard's offroad. I can't say he is cheap, but I was impressed with his attitude and willingness to tel ME what/how I would need to do if I wanted to do the work myself. That was when I was having problems with my brothers XJ. We ended up having the shop do the work and my brother has been very happy that it was finally fixed right and not breaking down on every trip.
