Noonday trail

I have never been there, i have read about it online, and seen some videos etc. looks interesting to me, plus my jeep would be up to the task as it is not an intense trail.

does anyone know when the snow melts off up there? it starts at 1000ft and climbs to 5000, so im sure there is still snow.

any info is appreciated.
id like to go up there soon, but dont want it to be all snow, or muck either.

thanks

I think you will have to wait until May for the snow to be gone. It just snowed up there today even. It's a fun area, and an easy trail. There is a fire lookout, and an old cabin you can rent to camp in. There's an old ghost town. I have a group going up this summer for the Bohemia days "breakfast on the mountain" again. After the middle of May I can take you (or a group) up there. (gotta study for a promotional test, and then a Browns camp run right after)

On the trail

The cabin

The area

Yes you need the ohv permit unless you are on private property. It's under $10 if I recall correctly.

Sounds good. I'm pretty open the end of May or June if you guys want to get a group together.

The trail is easy, just tight in some spots. The picture I posted above of the tan TJ is my buddy who was stock at the time going over the hardest spot. There are a few switch backs, and the over hanging tree branches that you have to rub in spots are not that bad. I have also seen stock JKs up there.

That's a long drive, but there are a number of spots to camp at if you wanted to make a weekend out of it.

In July I have a group that is going to take the trail up to an annual pancake breakfast the local miners have each year.
