New to Oregon where to go

Just moved to Eugene, OR from Phoenix lookin for some good spots to get offroad. Also looking for some good spots to take the kids out camping for the weekend where its not real crowded. Any info appreciated, thanks.

Never been there, but this thread has a few guys you can talk to.

Everyone up here pretty much goes to Browns Camp. If you like sand, you are only an hour away from Florence. More trails and better for jeeps down at Spinreel/Hauser/Horesfalls though. Winchester Bay is too steep in most places for jeep.

Let me start by saying I'm sorry.
Shotgun creek posted above has a small area for Jeeps. The Noonday is another local area, and it has a bunch of camping out that way. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f157/...trail-1193232/

X2. Eugene is not my favorite place in Oregon, lol. Most people I know who don't live there make fun of it almost as much as they make fun of Ashland (If you know anything of Southern Oregon you'll understand that one). Anyways, Corvallis is a much nicer place. Except for the smell.

Im from Tigard but im in Eugene going to UO. (and working at Cabela's) but iv heard some good things about shotgun, I havent made it up there yet but I know its smaller than the TSF. You can have allllot of fun out on the sand at Florence but as stated above there are some great runs at Windchester but alot of them are too steep for the Jeep

I saw a sign on the freeway just outside of Eugene that said Cabelas didn't open til May 5th. Is there another one in Eugene then?

To the OP, if you like sand, then bandon has some pretty fun areas to trundle around on. Just make sure you have wide tires and lotsa horse, cause sand is suctiony, lol. And don't bring mud tires onto the dunes. It doesn't work so well.

I most definitely will! Is the store planning any sort of big opening sale or anything? I just got my tax return a few weeks ago and finally have some money

Sorry to the OP for hijackin the thread but we have a ton of stuff planned for our grand opening and the weekend thereafter. We released our opening ad yesterday with a bunch of sale product in it. It should be epic! The store is awesome! Im guessing the ad will be in the papers this weekend.

Yeah, sorry bout that :embarassed:, lol. Living in Corvallis, we don't get eugene papers obviously, and the cabelas home page doesn't even acknowledge you guys exist. Any online place I can find what sort of sales are going on? Or am I just gonna have to show up May 5th and see what's what?
