If you still have the same insurance company, you might still have records that show the VIN number. If not, you might be able to call your agent. If it wasn't too long ago that you sold it, they might still have a record of it.
I'll try that I guess. I have a bad feeling about it all though. I never took it off road, say for the snow in the winter. When the guy left, he said he was going to show his kid what a Jeep can do. It might be all cut up now.

even going to the DMV and giving them the VIN won't get you far because they will cite "privacy acts/laws" and likely won't tell you a thing about it even if it does still show as being currently registered.
I was informed just yesterday by a customer that was trying to look up a 1986 model vehicle that carfax would not give him any info. I believe it was because of the age of the vehicle. Sorry to relay some bad news. Good luck finding you vehicle.
