A little Oregon mt. wheelin

Hey I have a group put together to go wheeling outside of Cottage Grove on Saturday Oct. 6th. It is an easy mt. trip that goes by a bunch of old gold mining building and equipment, and ends up at a firewatch tower at about 6000ft. It is a fun all day trip. Lots of good views. So far I have around 9 rigs going. You can do this in a stock rig on the main road/trail. There is a couple of play areas including a rockcrawl/hill climb by the top. If you are interested in going post up. We are meeting at 9:30-10am in Cottage grove.

I'm gonna be at the dunes that weekend in N. Bend, but this sounds like a great ride for me as I'm a newbie off-roader. My jeeps not stock, but I don't have a winch or even any tow straps yet or anything. I am thinking it would be fun for me and the hubby to do this trip during the week after we hit the dunes. Can you point me in the direction for more info about where this is and any other pertinant info you think would help. I definately want to see some great scenery and take the jeep for a fun ride, but I'm no rock crawler and me jeepstr is my DD. Thanks

A little Oregon mt. wheelin

Hey there.. I just moved to Florence. I pulled my trailer up there first and now am back in Sacramento (530 Miles) to get my Jeep. I'm flat towing it back up there tomorrow. If I make it, I'll join you and the others up there.

I need to make some wheelin buddies, so this'll be a double great opportunity for me.

-Bruce

So where exactly is this place..?

Are you running noon day trail, or the trails around bohemia city? I have heard that the miners in that area are no longer letting us use there trails. And as far as I know legally Noon Day is the only offical one up there that is not on private property.

We are staying on legal land the whole, way. Depending on the rigs that show up. We may run the noonday. There may be a fair amout of full sizes, that don't fit very well down the trail. This is mostly a trip up Champion to see the mining stuff then up to the general store and cabin. Then up to the tower. There is a few areas to play in that are on open land. We will just have to see who shows, and with what rig. Your more then welcome to come along.

Other then the gravel roads Noon day is the only legal trail up there. All the rest of them are on private land. Knott trail, and the rest are all private property. Thats why they aren't having the annual jamboree up there this year.

Yeah I know, everywhere I'm going is legal. I even have 1 or 2 coming from OT4x4 with me. This isn't a hardcore wheelin group I'm taking up. It is more a senic trip to the tower and check out some of the mining stuff. So far I have about 9 rigs and a bunch of maybe's

Time will be. 9:30-10am on Saturday at the walmart parking lot. I'll be in a Black TJ. So far I have about 8-10 rigs that have said for sure and another 11 on the maybe list. I'm thinking I'll get about half to show. We are running up Champion rd. up and looking at the open mining stuff. Then check out the a couple cabins and the general store. Then go up to the lookout tower. We may run Noonday down depending on who shows up in what rigs.

It was a good time. We had 9 rigs, including 2 old subarus, and a toyota 4x4 van on 28" BFG muds. Anyways made it to the top, there was about 4-6in of snow. Made the final climbu to the tower fun. I'll have photos up tomorrow forgot to bring them in today.

We ran part of the upper section. Almost rolled the bronco that was with us. he is sitting on 38's and had to hug a root wad on one side and a cliff on the other. It was pretty close for a little bit.
