Important: Latest Update on "Don't Fear the Jeeper" Event

Ok, here is the latest update on the “Don’t Fear the Jeeper” Event.

I have spoken with three different people at the Dick Hanna Jeep Dealership, including the person in charge of Don’t Fear the Jeeper which Brandon no longer works for. Everyone has said the same thing, which is they have been told as of last week that there are no plans to hold the Don’t Fear the Jeeper Event this year. The Office manager has not returned any of my phone calls to see if anything can be done to help persuade them in changing their mind. Since the “Don’t Fear the Jeeper” Event has been the only major Jeeping Community gathering event in the SW Washington and NW Oregon region for the last two years and has helped raise funds for the Yacolt Burn, along with bringing all Jeepers together in one location to support and share in our passion.

I am proposing that anyone who would like to positively and constructively express their feelings about how much the “Don’t Fear the Jeeper” Event means to the local Jeeping Community post their comment on Dick Hanna’s Jeep Facebook Website at:

www.facebook.com/DickHannahChryslerJeepDodge

Maybe together we can get the “Don’t Fear the Jeeper” Event back on for this year.

Why not just organize it with a few locals? I suppose I just don't see why the stealership has to be involved?

It is more of the tradition and meaning of the "Don't Fear the Jeeper" Event. Since it has already been established and is centrally located, we hate to see a tradition taken away from the Jeeping Community while other groups are still being supported. It would be nice to have another local company step up and hold this large of an Jeeping Event as a 2nd event since most states have multiple events with the exception of the Portland/Vancouver Area. But after last night's responses from Dick Hanna there is a chance they may change their mind about canceling the event. We are supposed to find out in the next couple of days. Also we have been contact by the person who ran the Don't Fear the Jeeper Events for the past 2 years before leave Dick Hanna and he has something in the works with a new company for future a major Jeep Event.

As soon as we hear back from Dick Hanna today or tomorrow we will post what their new final decision is.

Update

Dick Hanna just announced it will be holding an Jeeper Event this year, but since the Original Jeeper is no longer with them it will be held under a new name. As soon as a Date is set the information will be posted.

For anybody else looking for a Jeep event this summer...

If any of y'all have Facebook, search "Salem Jeepers" or "Salem Jeepers Summer Jam" for additional information. I'm just passing along some information.

The Salem Jeepers Jam is going to be a blast.... We've gotten a lot of buzz around the Jeep community about this, and it's been generating a lot of interest.
For those of you who attended last years Dont Fear The Jeeper Event, you may remember me spinning the classic rock all day long doing my best to represent KGON (who cancelled at the last minute) - and MCing the whole day as well as managing the raffle at the end of the day (I was the overly charismatic, good looking guy on the mic)
Jon Mock - the guy who has dedicated the last year of his life to organizing this First Annual Salem Jeep Summer Jam - has brought me in to do the same thing for his event. I'll be there pumping the music out, and of course you'll hear my golden pipes on the mic throughout the day as well. (don't worry, there wont be any singing.)
I made sure to give a couple shameless plugs on the mic in front of the crowd at this years Jolly Jeeper's Back to Basics Run (last weekend), and there seemed to be a fair amount of interest there as well. I even had a last minute vendor come up and ask if he could get in on the action!
I think that the success of this event will help generate more support in the local Jeep community for future local events as well, and maybe once Dick Hannah gets a report (i'll be sure to have a hand in on that) - They'll be more apt to commit to a date.

Oregonwolf: If you would, please PM me the contact info you have for the people you've been talking to at Dick Hannah, I'd like to make a plea personally and also offer my services to help move things forward with another Dont Fear The Jeeper.....
I will also be talking with each and every vendor at the Salem event, getting contact info, to possibly get the ball rolling on support from their end for a second Dont Fear The Jeeper.
