I would love to tag along if you don't mind a ZJ in the group! It's been a while since I have gotten some mud on my tires! I really don't use my jeep enough and want to change that! I will be coming from Seattle by ferry, @8mpg w/ a 5.9l & 35's driving around would end up costing me more than by boat, haha!) and maybe have a friend with a Toyota that might tag along too if thats cool with you guys
Absolutely Evan, that would be sweet. We're coming from the other way, couple guys from the coast and myself from Centralia. We're meeting in Shelton and then convoy up to the safe way in Belfair at 8. After we round up the group we'll head out. Can't wait to see a 5.9 in action. I miss my 318 zj, loved it!
Well I was going to say that I wasn't trying to wake up early to catch the 6am ferry to meet you, but you guys are coming from a much further ways away, so I will just keep my mouth shut and sleep on the ferry, lol! I have a CB and a few motorola talk abouts so I can be in contact easily depending on what you have.....just let me know, or I can swap phone #'s via PM if you like. I will try and put on a good show for you guys, but sometimes I think the ZJ can do more than me, lol! I am still kinda new to this game....
Just walked in the door after a great day! It was awesome meeting all you guys! Royal and Frank especially, thank you for getting the ball rolling on this gathering. I can see myself wheeling with you guys anytime! I was impressed at how capable all the drivers were, even the xj's with 30's and no lockers. Made me feel silly being out on 35's a couple times, lol! No damage other than I destroyed a drivers foglight at the rock garden, had my exhaust fall off, and was dealing with a crabby IAC all day....wait, didn't anybody else have anything go wrong???? lol! Like I said, nothing major that hampered my fun, and I was really just happy to meet some cool new people that are into Jeeps/ offroad like me! Already thinking about what we can do next! Here are some crappy iphone pics....I am really excited to see the pictures and video captured by the rest of the crew with their quality equipment though.
Our lonesome toyota putting on a show on Yellowjacket hill (please correct me if I am wrong guys!)
Royal's awesome XJ, I think my Jeep now has a little brother!
Cluster#u@k city on the trail. As a group we stopped to figure out our bearings and get all our rigs on the same path again, and literally rigs started coming out of nowhere from all directions, lol! then after they all managed to get by us, this pretty sweet XJ comes up on us, and his steering box bolts snapped right as he pulled up to us! Frank really helped out and they were able to macguyver the box back place so the jeep could be limped back to their trailer. Pic of the process.
Again, great day, awesome people! I can't wait to do it again!
