Question Some advice for starting out

So I just bough a '06 TJ and I really want to get out on the trails starting in the summer or spring.
I've been reading about Tahuya and Fortune Creek Trails, are those trails easy enough that I could do on my own? or should I try to tag on to a group? None of my friends have 4x4 vehicles so I can't really get help from them

Honestly I would find a jeep club that you like. There are alot of threads on the local clubs in this area. If you need any other info just shoot me a PM.

I would definately find a group or club to tag along with, even if the trail is easy a breakdown can leave you far from home.

Well, the jeep I got is pretty much new, only 40k miles, and its the Wrangler X trim, is that good for the trail being stock?

Where are you located? I would advise never go out alone! Those trails are calm but stuff happens. There is nothing worse than getting stranded! Been there done that! Also educate your self by reading write ups on the trails you want to run, recovery techniques, and trail etiquette. The first mods I would get if I were to do it again is a winch, recovery gear, and trail tool/parts. This will give you time to enjoy your rig, learn how to wheel it right, and plan your build.

I live in Woodinville
And thanks! But will I be able to do anything without it for now? I do plan on building my rig up, but I want to test waters first see if I do enjoy it before dropping money on things you know?

I might be headed to Tahuya with a group on the 17th, I'll keep you posted. It's either that or Elbe, and I'm not sure I want to head that way without more armor.

I'd like to join in as well... finally got my TJ to where I'd like to beat on it a little and looking for people to go with.

Actually I am going camping up there with some friends in april, gonna try it out then.
One question, probably going to seem dumb but I honestly don't know, is my tj lifted? I've seen others that seem to sit lower, but others that are the same, and a lot that are higher, so I don't really know what's normal for tjs

I did a quick search for you and wasn't able to really find and numbers to the flares but from the rocker to the ground most stock guys are saying between 18-19. I'm am XJ with cut outs so Mine isn't a good measurement
