evans creek 11-22-08

A few of us made a run to evans creek today. I had to try out my wrecking yard 8.8 conversion. All went well, we had some snow and lots of mud. I broke my left rear fender flare and the right front header of my soft top. I really liked the ingenuity that the three of us came up with when Jeff's pressure switch failed for his onboard air system. We hooked up his air compressor circuit to the high beams of his headlights, every time jeff needed his air lockers he turned on his high beams, coooool
We met Ed and his daughter Hailey?? and they did the 311 trail with us, nice meeting new people
Jeff was happy to give up the DUCK, Stuart started to slide off the trail in the snow and had to winch to safety.

Yeah, I think when we get into the snow runs, that duck will end up like a football, being thrown from one rig to the other!!

This picture still kills me

Women and children make narrow escape as the Anti-Jeff attemps to send jeep toppling down the ravine.

but alas, the Anti-Jeff is thwarted as:

Man single-handedly saves friend from certain peril!

sorry Andy, Jeff still had a few bugs to work out and I was worried about the wrecking yard rear end in my Jeep, I didn't want to break down and have you guys sitting on the trail working instead of wheeling.

So.... I went out to unload the Jeep from the trailer and found a puddle of gear oil under the rear diff. Add that to the list of things I have to fix, eh.
Must have been from when we got hung up on the diff on that rock. Nothing looks to be hurt. It's just leaking from the cover.

Yeah! I thought it was pretty cool too!
It was good for a few laughs

Actually, the first plan that Steve and Stuart came up with was to hook it up to my rear window defog relay.
That didn't pan out.
Then they wanted to hook up to my horn so I would have to "honk" (except the horn would be unplugged) to make the air run.
We didn't have enough wire for that.
It was all getting pretty silly.
We had a laugh or two
