Evan's Creek Death

I read an article about a man dying and his 4-year old son being critically injured at Evan's creek. Does anyone know what happened? Is there anything we can do for his family?

Check some of the local forums like WAVJC or PNWjeep. There is more info there.

Very sad. There is a thread on Pirate4x4 with some pictures of the recovery and more info. The damage does not look very bad. Remember to wear your seatbelts! Hopefully we will all take a minute and think twice about wheeling alone, and the safety of our little ones.

A true shame and a tough loss for those left behind. Don’t take this as me berating the dead, but more as a "what to do" when found in that situation.

The dad died of hyperthermia and the boy nearly died. The dad used his body to shield the boy from most of the cold. Neither were injured in the wreck, the truck was rolled and they were stuck with no way out.

Every 4X4 I have ever been in has a gas tank and a battery.
You can start a fire even without having the road flairs, lighter or anything. A small amount of gas from the tank, remove the battery and use one of the cables to make a spark on the other terminal and you can start a small fire.

If injured and stuck in extreme cold and it’s live or death, I choose to live and burn my rig.

Big fire and a great signal to come and get me!

Always think what you can do to stay alive on your own and just hope someone will come and get you.
