from zj to wj

I know some guys have put zj front DS in wj with 4in lift and it works...my question is can I take the yokes (from front axle and tcase) off a 98 zj and put them on 00 my wj both have 242....will it work....I know zj has HP D30 but are the yokes different also will the OD unit from zj work in wj I know about the cut-off year for that sensor so I may not have OD but other than that will it work

no, you have to get a T-case yoke from a WJ. different spline count i believe. hit up carolina driveshaft or tomwoods... a yoke will run you about $80. you CAN use the pinion yoke from any D30 though. not sure about the OD sensor... probably not.

Yea spline count was my biggest concern as far as OD unit I thought that they changed the 42re in 97 or 98 and it was the same one they used in the first few years of the wj until they went to the 44re...anyone know for sure

if you have a 4.0L you have a 42RE. it was the only trans put behind the 4.0L in the WJ platform. not sure on change over years though.

from what i understand it was a programming thing because u can have an older trans flashed and the revs at 70mph will go from 2200 to 2000. any idea how much a flash would cost?

I thought that was only the 45rfe becoming the (5)45rfe in the V8.
