yet another painted wheel ?

I know there has been a crap load of threads regarding painting your wheels, but i have read many different ones except can't find anyone who has painted their Rogues with the stupid plastic overlay.

Can you paint these wheels, if so would you just prep the same way, or skip the sanding and just clean with acetone and then primer as i don't think the plastic would hold up to sanding.

I saw somebody peel the plastic off, sand blast the rims down to bare metal, then powdercoat them... There's also at least one person that painted over the plastic, but I can't remember his user name.

i hate the chrome clad rogues i wish mine were the original rogues.

the process for painting them would be the same. It may help to hit the plastic with an adhesion promoter just for added security.

I'm not crazy about the plastic rogues either but they look ok, i would prefer to paint a set of moabs or just get new wheels, either something by XD in black or DC II's when i have the cash.

I do have a spare rogue, maybe i'll try painting just that one and see how it turns out
