IMHO NO
reason: fitted a K&N filter to one of my quads, it was well oiledand it even had an outer sock over it
yes it did perform better, however found that the filter alowed very fine duct past
found that very fine dust on the air pipes past the filter, witchdid not happen with the original filter
In addition to not providing a seat of the pants boost that you're hoping for, the gains that it does offer are likely higher in the powerband than would even be useful for you in normal driving. As kfxnando said, it doesn't filter as well as a cheap paper filter. To top it off, and this is the real kicker for me, the $300+ you would spend on it would go a long way towards something that would actually be useful, like a bumper or recovery gear.
With the 4.7 I would say its worth it. With the 4.0 no I didnt notice any difference at all. Not much of anything really helps the 4.0 short of a stroker kit.
I got one on my 4.7 because they sound cool. They're worth it if that's what you want. Even coupled with exhaust and a programmer, mine might be just a little bit quicker. Nothing amazing.
