the de-sta-co 344r that i was looking at (my brother in law used that on his tj carrier) is rated at like 2,000# i think, and this one is considerably more HD with less moving parts, so i assume it's at least 2k. i may go through the de sta co catalog later and see what i can find.

Got the hitch fitted up...need longer bolts by maybe 1/2". Fitted the 2x4 on the angle so that the hinge would clear the tailgate, and then tacked it in. Also, some pics of the reinforcement where the angle was notched around the hitch. It'll be fully welded, those are just tacks

the 2x4x3/16 was $39 and some change for the 5'. gotta get another hole saw. all ace had was 1 1/2" which i got and the 2x4 promptly chewed up, so gonna hunt down a 1 5/8" this week to finish up. also picking up the 2x3 for the swing arm this week.

decided to use 2x2 throughout for the arm since alot of the JK's i've looked at use 2x2. besides, i won't be going bigger than 33" on this carrier, so i'm not worried. got quite a bit more done this weekend. just have to cut the tire mount arm down to the right length, gusset the tire mount arm at the 90*, put bracing plates behind the mount welds on the swing arm, and do the final mock-up next weekend and she'll be ready for jeep beach! anyway, any questions, ask away

lookin good!
how are you going to fit the swing arm with no bend in the steel to clear the tailgate?
not doubting just concerned cause it sucks cutting welds and rewelding
