WJ Power steering leak.

2003 GC Limited with the 4.7 97k miles

What are the most common spots for a leak?

I recently (4 months ago) changed my PS fluid to MS102XX i believe, since my 03 has the hydraulic fan. Its different from the MS5931

Looks like I now have a fairly bad leak, looks like PS fluid and it looks like its all around the reservoir, is that a common leak point?

That fluid also made its way down to the oil filter, P/S hoses, the pump housing and the oil pan so its puking... I washed the engine down to diagnose exact leak spot.

Mine has always been a little bit wet, but nothing like this. How common is it for the reservoir to crack? And can it be replaced separately from the pump?

Yes the reservoir is a common failure as well. I have the same issue on mine.

The oring can be replaced I had mine leaking from full to nothing in 2-3 days. My dad had the same problem and took his to the dealer and they replaced the oring on his, so I figured it was worth a try and took mine apart and replaced the oring on the end of the hose and it is fine now. Had a pack of different size orings in the tool box so no cost and 20 min of time.

Ok update. Replaced the O ring, it didn't help.

That area now looks dry, underneath the reservoir is still leaking.

Can I just replace the reservoir? The PS pump never game any issues.

I have not been able to find a aftermarket reservior for the 4.7s. The dealer sells it but its about $132 bucks which is ridiculous.

So it looks like I'll have to replace the entire pump which is stupid . I can get a pump for $110 at rockauto.

Ok update, I got a new pump on, but I am still having a leak from the high pressure hose. How many rubber O rings does it take and where do they go?

So here is a better pic if the leak. It is leaking from the top of the nut and from the bottom also.

The Screw doesn't go in any further than that...

What can I do ? Is there some kind of pipe thread sealant I can use?

i was able to get a replacement hose from Autozone after calling Edelmann, the hose manufacturer. Edelmann #92189 is routed from the Power Steering Pump to the Hydraulic Fan Motor. The hose is 52 ¼” in length and uses 20MM O-Ring fittings with ½” tubing and hose and the OEM cross is 05019708AD. It is available from pretty much any auto parts store. I received my part and it installed as it was supposed to. RockAuto online has it listed for $41.00. So far no leaks. The fitting doesn't move like the original, instead there is an O-ring on the end the it acts like a flared fitting when tightened.

Ok new hose is on. And this thing is STILL LEAKING (not from the hose but the reservoir is wet), I am just about really MAD at this point.

I think the rebuilt pump/reservoir are leaky

Mopar came out with a better designed pressure line (pump to hydraulic fan) that was supossed to not leak at the fittings like the original OEM part. There was a TSB put out on it. No one had any problems after installing the upgraded line and if I remember correctly it was a dealer only part not available at your local auto parts supplier.
