on the limited's the bumper and the grille were attached to one another and color matched to the body. On the Laredo they are separate (and the grille is chrome).

I will eagerly accept any advice or help I can get. | Built Not Bought # 736

I believe the 99 to 2001 limited models did not have the chrome inserts in the grill. Our 02 limited has color matched grill with chrome inserts.

http://www.wjjeeps.com/grilles/grillesrem.htm

This link has a ton of info on the WJ including everything you ever wanted to know about grilles.

I believe you could replicate this look by painting a stock chrome Laredo grille from 99-03 if you have any other model. The other grilles would have that ridge around the outside that even if you painted it would still be there. Sand it down well with med and then fine sandpaper first (after you take out the black inserts) and it should hold paint decently. There are a ton of pages out there on line that describes how to do this.

Good luck and post pics when/if you decide to do it.

I may be wrong, but I believe you can just remove the chrome rings. I've see them for sale separately from the grille. I have been wanting to remove mine too, but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I'm assuming because nobody bothers to follow the rules of the thread anymore. Just a guess, though.

you CAN remove them, but it will look like crap. they are held in with little clips thats you have to brake to get them off. You would be left with little holes around each grille "loop". Best bet is to find a 99 or 2000 limited at the junk yard and cut the grille from the bumper......then just bolt it on to your laredo. Its easy to cut and youll never notice. I cut my grille so that I can run without the bumper on the trail. once you put the bumper cover back on you never notice it ever been cut into 2 pieces

Nice looking WJ!! We should hit the trail together sometime. I'm in Henderson and have a similarly modified 04 Overland.
