any interest in WJ Front hooks. thinking about making some. need opinions

so i got some WJ factory hooks for the front of my parents WJ at the u pull yard, but was thinking i hadnt seen any after market except the rustys.
if i were to design and sell some brackets would anyone be interested, i could try to keep it under 100$ for the pair im sure,
and it could use the standard tow hooks you buy at the tractor supply store or what not.

thoughts.

i was thinking 1/4 inch metal. or 3/16

___
|/
that shape for the passenger side
where the top bolts to the "frame" and extends over to use another bolt like the factory ones do, and the angled piece would be a gusset.

what part bent on your factory brackets?
all grade 8 hardware also.

Yeah, better make them super strong. I have Rusty's hooks and bent them the first time I used them, pulling my buddies WJ from a little mud hole. Not deep, he just couldnt get any traction on it. That alone was enough to bend them.

Since they sit sideways, it bent the drop bracket. (The red circled part)

ok, so i was kind of thinking along the same lines as that, but with a triangular support behind where the hook goes on. which should be enough to keep it straight.

They do have trusses that you cant see from that pic. I just pulled that pic off there site. Actually, now that I look at it, that bracket in the pic doesnt look anything like mine. Mine have a triangle piece on each side. But still bent.

if stock hooks bend under a light load..... it questions whether or not the WJ was ever meant to be off road.

rusty's and stock are the only two i've seen.

the stock wj front hooks use grade 10.9 bolts.

i understand if you use thicker metal to make it and stronger bolts to hole it.
but do you think you can find more room to fit the bigger brackets, bolts, and hooks?

alos teh stock ones can only handle 5,500 pounds or 1.5 times the vehicles GVWR of the WJ. and i think you cant get any better then thank since your mounting it on the frame

the hooks are only meant for recover and not towing, that might be why they bent

the guy talking about towing the frontier meant recovering, it was high centered, so he was using the hooks as intended.

I think WJ's were made for pulling bundles of fire wood back to camp. HAHA Rofl.
