WJ Engine Swap

Hey guys, just thought id ask this here. Im picking up a 1999 GC with a bad motor, are there any good write-ups on the engine removal? Or at least some tips you guys can give me. Ive done many engine swaps but never on a Jeep. Most ive done on jeeps are many 93-98 Transmissions

Sorry to be a noob and not search very well.

EDIT: Are there any differences in the 99 GC 4.7L and the 01 Durango 4.7L

I've done a couple 4.7's and I believe the oil pan and intake is different on the Dodge engine. I always used the Jeep parts when I was putting one back together. The long block is identical. Make sure the replacement engine has the same number of teeth on the crank tone wheel, 16T or 32T.

2000 WJ Laredo 4.7 4x4, just rebuilt engine, 242 HD TC swap, 2" BB, tow hooks, Addco rear sway bar. Looking to find a 3" IRO lift, JK 17"s and 3.73 Quadradrive rear axle.

Whats a quick way to determine if the Durango motor is a 16 or 32? So i can ask the seller over the phone. What would my 99 GC be 16 or 32?

EDIT: When i search car-part.com the 01 Durango only shows a 16T 4.7.

Most 99-01 (and some 02) were 16T after 2002 they went to a 32T tone ring. I've heard rumors that there were some random mixed teeth count between the years but I would just try to verify it first to make sure. Yours should be a 16T. Unfortunately the only way to tell is remove the oil pan and count the teeth or verify it by the VIN if available. You can swap tone wheels on the crank if you end up with the wrong one but it entails removing the crank which can be a PITA.

Ok, thanks guys. Im not that worried about it, if i have to swap the wheels its just more reason to do general maintenance to the used motor.

How about some tips for making this swap go as quickly as possible?

check the number of plugs on the ECU, 3 plugs are the 16 tooth JTEC engines and 4 plugs are the newer 32 tooth engine
