WJ 4x4 Select Trac

4x4 will engage but its really noisy and if you stop the vehicle in Full Time 4x4 and put both the trans and T-Case in Neutral you cannot roll it, it wont even roll down a hill. Its like a parking brake is on, and it takes a bit of throttle to make it move against its will. Now off road in the mud or loose dirt its not as bad.
All tires same size
I have a bad feeling when the rear-end was replaced after a sideswipe a few years back they may have not installed the correct axle ratios.

Any thoughts?
All shifting mechanisms are in good order and T-case goes through all its ranges as it should. Detents are spot on.

Please provide a better description of "noisy".
Squealing? Grinding? Screaming? Moaning? Coughing?
When shifting the TC lever? When in motion?
...the details.

Put Jeep on jack stands & repeat the "e-brake on" symptom. See which wheel(s) is(are) actually preventing motion.

If in the front, remove front DS & see if problem is still there.

Measure axle ratio yourself using the string method.

Noise: Machine like grinding sound like the trans/case is under extreme load very rough.
Ill do the jack stand method and get back with you.
Steering wheel also wants to pull hard to the right when in 4x4 mode on street or dirt.

How do you like the EBC rotors/pads?

I have a feeling you are absolutely correct here. The transfer case is not making it out of "part time" mode due to the transfer case binding up. If the center differential were unlocked it wouldn't bind up like this. The string technique will work to measure final drive. You can also pop the diff covers and count teeth on the ring/pinion. 3.55:1 is 32 ring, 9 pinion teeth. 3.73 is 41/11.

You could also rotate the front wheel one full turn and count how many times the driveshaft rotates if it will turn.
do the same for the rear.
Can you get transfer case in neutral?
