Wj Why don't I have a 10-disc changer?

First off, this is my first post! I'm loving this forum! Anyways, I bought a beautiful 2001 WJ Limited with 131,000 miles on the body, but with a brand new 4.7 Power Tech V8, with only 11,000 miles for $5,600! I obviously have the Infinity Gold system.

If the 10-disc changer was standard on the Limited trim, then why isn't in the compartment in the cargo area? All the labels, and instructions on how to operate the changer are on the door, and there is a CD-C button on the radio!

Why would they affix the CD-C buttons and the CD-C instruction labels, when it's clearly missing!?

Never thought it was std in the Limited. Certainly was not in the UK. I have the same stereo as that and even have the wiring hidden inside the rear panel but there never was an autochanger and I have known my car from new..

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got yourself an electrical problem!

Maybe it was remvoed by a previous owner. My Mercury Sable has a single disk player but if you look at the radio you would think it had a 6 disk due to the labeling on the radio, they sometimes use the same radio on all trim levels.

May have gone faulty and was removed by PO
Does it really matter. It's not there now and hardly worth buying old obsolete equipment when you can get a kit to hook up your iPhone or iPad with much greater capacity at fraction of price of 2nd hand 10 year old cd changer.
I know you'll hate me for saying this but the box is more useful for storing ropes shackles first aid tools etc...
I'm in same boat as you have box and controls no cd changer.

I took mine out of my 2002 Overland because it made irritating 'chirping' noises when offroading. It's made to move a lot to save the delicate bits inside. If I'd left it in it would have destroyed itself in short order, I suspect. Sadly, I gave it away some years back. Never missed it, as iPod is the answer.

I connect my iPhone via a $9 3.5mm to Casette adapter, and it works great. Dead simple. It would be nice to have the 10-disc changer. I wrote my first post wrong. My MOTHER bought the car. It's the new "family car", you could call it. The 10-disc would be useful, considering I'm the only one in the family who doesn't use CD's. They all refuse to go digital. I'll take a look on eBay. Thanks for the help!

Wj

Wait. How the he** am I going to connect the changer!? I don't see any wiring in the storage container!

Also, for those interested, here are a few quick photos of the new Jeep. I might make a thread about my opinion on the WJ.

Front of the vehicle (The most beautiful part, in my opinion!)

The front Jeep badge, all worn and torn. I somewhat like this look, because it just gives it --- that feeling. You know. It's an older model, and it's handled the elements with no issues for 12 years. Cheesy, I know.

She's a good one!

Again, thanks for all your help, you guys! If I can just figure out if my WJ has the wiring. There was a plastic panel with two clips. Maybe the wiring is behind that?

So I know this isnt entirely related, but in my 2001 Laredo, I have all the wirings for the premium sound without any of the actual premium sound options. They did switch radios in 2002 so you kind of need to think how they were getting rid of excess parts. However in your case it seems the CD changer was removed, I don't have an empty bay area for a CD changer thats missing. I do however have the premium radio with the CD changer controls, as well as all the wirings for steeringwheel radio controls....neither of which I actually have.

It looks like you may have never even had the CD changer from the factory in the first place... there should be 4 metal bolt-rivets and a metal mounting bracket for the CD changer - neither of which I see in the pic. If you would like to convert it to handle a CD changer I have the metal bracket to mount it to, but not the CD changer. The PO took mine out.
