Wheel and tire sizing

Ok I'm shopping rock crawler wheels. Does the width (8,9,10) factor into the tire size at all? Like what is the benefit of a 10" rim vs a 8"? I'm wanting to buy 16" with 4" backspacing rock crawlers. Wanting to put some mts on it. Basically I have a 2.5" suspension lift and wanna put on 265/75r16 mt

i would use the 8 inch wide wheel. that way you can fit a wider tire if you ever want to go that way. you can fit a 12.50 wide tire on that rim the only thing that the wheel size matters is that you don't want a wider rim than tire, bc that would look ignorant, and be easier to pop a bead if you air down.
the tire you want to run is a 31.6x10.50 you would be perfectly suited to run the 8 inch wide rim.

If you want a wider stance, get spacers

I have spacers, but I'd rather have a little more.
