I'm going to see how much I can get with it still in since I have so much room down there, and if I'm not happy with it, ill do it when I truss it

Picked up another 242 Transfercase from a ZJ at the JY yesterday. Found one with a Reman Mopar tag. I've never seen one before. Has anyone else seen one?

Anyone have any idea how to decode the build date on the tag? I had a 242 out of a KJ but didnt feel like screwing around with it, so I sold it for $200 and picked up this one for $100. Not a bad deal since I already had a rear driveshaft for this Tcase laying around.

Unfortunately I smashed my finger removing it and Im going to lose the fingernail so its a little tender at the moment. I think I'll try to swap the cases next week sometime if the finger feels better.

Excuse the massive pic. Without it, its tough to read the label.

Thanks. It looks really light there. The top of the can is way darker, almost a blued steel. In the process of wire brushing/painting the rear axle

If you have factory front skid, that may help, otherwise a $200 front warn hitch fits perfectly below the rad- now you can also add a removable winch. It will look better with the front bumper removed IMO.

I know your pain dude, trying to put my trailer hitch in, I smashed my finger inbetween the hitch and the sharp edge on the bottom of the underside of the metal bumper... First the piece of wood next to me ended up halfway down the street and then a string of obscenities flew from my mouth for the next 5 minutes as I was clutching my hand and the girlfriend was freaking out. I didn't end up losing the nail though, I babied it for days trying to protect it from ripping off, turned out ok.

There. Wire wheeled/brushed everything I could reach then gave it a can worth of hi-temp grill paint. I got just about everything, and I think it looks pretty GD clean. I'll do a thorough job when I have the axle out to truss it sometime before labor day

Here it is 3 hours later. Pretty dry, but I think it'll darken a little more. Pretty freaking sweet with the black hex bolts.

and my wife just informed me that she added this to her amazon school book order since the cheapie one i got didn't work
