Drove her for the first time since Thursday! Replaced bushings and hardware on rear sway links...the addco sure is tight! Weird not leaning with turns now. Also replaced the water pump and tensioner pulley. Runs cooler than before. Finally got the wiring and tubes straightened out and finished up the zj res swap. Sure is nice to be able to wash the love bugs off again!

It's a Jeep, it's not supposed to work right all the time.

Replaced the front draft shaft (double u joint style) with one from a junk yard. FYI - don't buy these new - $400-500 when you can get a used one for $100-150 and the install is just 4 8 mm bolts. Picture of the twisted drive shaft from trying to push the jeep too hard over the weekend at the Tierra Del Sol Desert Safari (3rd pic).

Nice shaft. You should be able to get that re tubed fairly cheap. Would make a good spare.

Bought a new (used) lift gate tonight. Complete with all mechanical parts and interior panel. Already the same color paint and interior panel. It'll replace my previously damage (and poorly repaired, and therefore rusted out) lift gate.

When I have time that is.

Picked up a rolling tool chest from the scratch and dent pile at sears for 60 bucks for the ever growing stash of tools I use on my WJ. Hope it lasts until I can afford a snap-on tool chest!

Was that a stock driveshaft, Can old U-joints cause that?

Driveshafts are made to handle a lot more than they were ever intended to, Hmm

Donor was from an 04 WJ. I did a search on car-part.com and it listed the drive shaft by type (i.e. front / back u joints). The u joints on mine weren't rusty, but just dirty. I'd say keeping a spare is a good idea, and sounds like a lot of wheelers keep spares. I'd say even better to keep a spare for the rear. If you lose the front like I did, just take it out and run without it in 2wd. If you lose the rear, may not be able to drive home like I did without a front shaft.

Got my license plate relocation bracket and light so I can finally mount my spare on my bumper. Also got D-ring shackles, A-Pilar cluster, and oil temp guage. Just waiting on the rest of the guages to come in. Good thing is they shipped on Friday so they should be here soon.

Also started working on my in dash cluster, got a cardboard make up. But after talking to the guy that mkes the wj a-pilar cluster....he said that enough guys would like the plastic piece behind the steering wheel/ below the guage cluster, replaced to accept 2 guages let me know. They won't make um unless enough guys want them.

Just a thought, but ill have pic's of my carboard template up later tomorrow.
