That's a terrible idea. If he has the 247, then the moment the rears start spinning and the front aren't, 4WD will engage. That's the whole idea of how the 247 works. This would only prove if his front is engaging or not.
My money's on the mechanic using the wrong fluid in it. Chances are he put in ATF in the TC, it needs the specific Mopar fluid to operate correctly. When I changed mine the guy before me had put in ATF and it also drove terribly, after I changed the fluid, it ran much smoother.

It's a 2000 WJ with Quadra drive = 247 TC and Vari lock axles. Basically, operates as a rear wheel drive, then when rear wheel spins, front wheels pull.... should operate from 2wd to 4wd almost seamlessly.... so smooth you usually don't even feel it go from 2wd to 4wd.
I pulled fill plug on TC and stuck my pinky finger in, whatever fluid they used is thin, clear, and has a strong odor like gear oil, not red like ATF, and doesn't smell like ATF.

Guessing it was cold there today, got the heater on hot... iPads a nice touch, how does the mount hold up to the bumps/vibrations? Also how does it attach?

Of coarse, its a universal headrest mount, slightly modified. Found it at local auto parts store for $35 but amazon has them cheaper. Nut serts in dash so it doesn't just mount to the trim. Cut the alignment pins off of the radio bezel and drill the holes where the pins were and they line right up to holes in the dash. Added some sticky bumpers to the back to adjust for the curve of the bezel and not scratch the trim. Holds up real nice, slight movement over bumps but that is expected it's 1.5lb hangin two inches off the dash, honestly i was suprised how stable it is. Also did the aux input mod a couple weeks ago so sound runs through the stereo. Still waiting on the OBDII dongle though so the engine data isn't there yet but the gps navigation works and woth google maps precache option i can always know where I am, even without cell service.
