Finally got around to determining why the brakes felt spongy after new rotors and pads. Took a while, but I managed to remove the pins.

Anytime I pull my brakes apart, I put a thin coat of brake grease on these pins.

When I initially gave it a brake job last year (the first since buying the WJ in 2009), I couldn't remove the pins with the 7mm (or 9mm, not sure) hex socket -- they were stripped round. No heat or vice grips could remove it. Finally got fed up with the spongyness and banged away at the sliding piece of the caliper (not sure the name of the part) and it slid off allowing me to remove the pins with a pipe wrench. Replaced the rubber boots as well.

If you have CV joints, you can't order half shafts because the CV joint is non serviceable... you just replace the entire axle shaft, CV joint and all.

What he meant was even without a stabilizer you should not have death wobble if there is no issues with the suspension components, geometry, alignment, etc. If the case of death wobble is mild however a steering stabilizer will cure the issue but it is kinda a band-aid so to speak.

Yeah its a pretty easy process and sadly the drivers side is always the faded one. Oh well best $75 I spent on cosmetics for the WJ.

I spent $2,700 at the stealership replacing virtually everything in the rear end except for the wheel hubs themselves. Swaybars, linkages, half-shaft...the list just went on and on. So that's the bad news.

The good news is that it doesn't make a sound now when going down the road and is a WHOLE lot more stable turning corners. lol

But, seriously...ouchies.
