What did you use to prep? just a wire btush or what?
I dont have much rust but I have used that rust converter stuff on hard to sand surfaces with lots of nooks and crannies... works good turns rust to primer

I actually didn't have very much rust (Arizona), it was just a few places and in small patches. Just wanted to take care of it now before I took the chance of it getting worse. I used a wire brush and lots of elbow grease on the bad areas and just quick wire brushed the rest and then cleaned everything really good with simple green. I used the rustoleum metal etching primer and then rustoleum paint.

Lighting

Rock lights with the LED strips. Used the 5050's instead of the 3528's and beaded the edges with clear silicone to assist the 3m strip on the back of em, wired to switch where the normal location of heated seat switches.

Put a strip across the lip on the front of the hood as well for night lighting, REALLY lights up the engine compartment at night.

Did some measuring for repair to the front lower spring perches that have rusted into oblivion! Will be fabbing that up in the next couple of weeks.

Bailed on mounting the high lift to the rails, stainless hardware I had was about 1/4 too short to be effective so I mounted it in the back for now and will incorporate the roof mount into the rack that is this winters project.

Gave it a bath and cleaned the windows.

Let my wife use her to go shopping, then regretted badly as she scraped the whole passenger side on way out of supermarket.
Is it bad? "well its going to be my weekend offroad toy now"

Replaced the thermostat and housing last week. The water pump started leaking on Saturday right before our trip...back in the garage it went and I replaced the water pump and coolant once again

Now I gotta fix the bearing noise from the rear diff and I should be good for a while.

Did the 2 inch lift and the Good Year DuraTracs last week as well:
