First post here - Sunday I changed out my headlights, added a Light Bar, and started on a DIY Ski rack for the roof. Just got the Jeep about a month ago.

Welcome biffs. FYI - in case you didn't notice, the vertical aiming adjuster for the Spyder projectors can be reached with a long screwdriver through the hole on top of the crossmember for the radiator.

I always thought Idaho got the same weather as Montana and the Dakotas. I guess I am wrong. I guess that's why they don't grow potatoes in Montana and the Dakotas.

You are getting a good start. It's amazing how a new pair of headlights changes the look.

Relocated my hid ballasts (2 x 75w). They were mounted on top of the fuse box. Now they are mounted on the underside if the batter tray. Looks much better ! Also covered the holes in the fuse box with black silicon.
Can recommend to mount big ballasts underneath the battery, lots of space for ballasts and you don't need to drill in to the body if the jeep (that can lead to rust), only drill in cheap plastic.

After shot : (forgot to take before shot)

(Yes, Saab battery in a jeep)

Shot of one of the ballasts. (Left is towards the front):

Shot of the lights (with the position lights on and the hid bulbs off):

Started to cut on the mounting brackets for my TAG Rock Sliders. Measured the unibody frame rails vs the height of the mounting brackets as built, and am taking almost an inch off the top.

Measure twice, cut once - with an angle grinder (lots of fun, and sparks, and noise).

Curious about technique - for the first cut I basically cut along the tape line, made about 6 passes as I recall - with rest/cool-down periods for the cutting wheel and grinder motor between each pass - the inner brackets appear to be 3/16", while the outer brackets are thicker, about 1/4".

I am not a metal worker so want to ensure the approach I wrote, basically make a pass along the full length of the cut with grinder at speed, enough force to cut but not enough to bog down, is the right way to cut with an angle grinder.

Or can I start on an edge and get a cut all the way through the material and slowly work across the length of the cut in one long pass?

Once I finished the first cut I let it cool off then shot it with some paint to seal it against rust - any other recommendations?

Thanks
