Drove it 350 miles to meet my dad to go hunting. On the way there, i got fed up watching my temp gauge climb slowly when going up hills, so I pulled over to have a look under the hood. Turns out that my electric fan is not working. I was thinking the mechanical fan had gone out and I was gearing up to do a Tarus fan swap. But now I'm relieved, fixing the electric fan (probably the relay) will be much cheaper/easier.
And while driving my Dad's 2013 Rubicon around the mountains for 2 days, I came to 2 conclusions:
1- I will find a way to fit the navigation/satellite radio unit that's in his JK into my WJ. That thing is awesome.
2- I hate(read: jealous) how his completely stock JK is roughly on par(if not better) in offroad capability with my WJ that I've put so much time/effort into. I'm thinking I may need to start saving up for a 4-door Rubicon sooner than I thought I would.
And when I got back from my 350 mile drive home last night around 3am (after driving through the first snow storm of the season for 100 miles of that), I found a box with my wheel spacers on the porch. I'll be posting up some before and afters when I get them on either today or tomorrow.

2000 WJ Limited 4.7 with stuff. Look left for the deets.
I'm starting to think my 4.7 doesn't like synthetic oil. These last few days it's been chilly in the morning and it's noisier than usual. Reminds me of the rattle sound the 4.0 in my old XJ used to make lol.
My 4.7 does the same thing. In the AM when I crank it up it clatters a little bit for about 20 seconds and then stops. It does it in the afternoon when I leave work too but not nearly as much as in the AM. I suspect that the engine wasn't properly maintained by it's previous owner.........The first oil change I did a few days after I bought it the oil was BLACK...I mean blackedy black black black. Last time I saw oil that black was on my old I6 WJ when I went 10k between oil changes..(I had a good reason IMO, a 40k acre wildfire that also took my house and I don't let anyone but me change my oil.)
But yeah, on my 4.7 when I changed the oil I used 5w-30 Penzoil High Mileage and a high capacity filter. It still ticks when I fire it up in the morning for about the same amount of time but it doesn't do it any other time except for when I've let it sit for 7 or 8 hours and it doesn't do it for very long.....to me it sounds like the oil drains from the top of the motor into the pan and the clicking happening while the oil is pumping back up to the top side.
Also, I see a lot of posts in here about using Sea Foam....I bought a can of it but I'm about half scared to use it as the directions indicate and having seen several youtube vids on the subject. The giant white plumes of smoke coming out of the exhaust when you put it into the intake throw me for a loop. Also, is putting a 3rd of a can of sea foam into my engine oil going to thin it out? I can totally see the benefits of putting it into the gas tank, but the other 2/3rds of the can worry me....I guess I'm chickensheise LOL
