Finally got my cb antenna tuned to my liking. I had to build a mast to lengthen the antenna. She should get out a little better now. If it doesn't come apart I'll clean it up and paint or clear it later.

Used my wj to haul my new tow home Monday. Also I got the 7 pin connector for my trailer wiring and am in search of the harness to go for inside the jeep out to the plug end. Anyone have one they'd be interested in selling me?

It only sticks out a couple inches past the bumper cover. That ring is a flimsy piece of aluminum. I'm gonna replace it with a thicker piece of diamond plate eventually that tapers in at the front and rounds off at the rear. That would act as a deflector for it. It's not an issue though as I don't do any "extreme off-roading". It sees occasional woods and pasture driving.

That looks like it would make for horrible swr readings. Is that mounted to the plactic bumper cover? Do you have a ground strap not visible in the picture? And why the extention to make up for a short antenna? Was it previously cut for 10meter?

I made a mount from corner braces that mount under the tail light. Believe it or not, the antenna still read short with the 102" whip and the spring. With the copper mast the SWR is 1.4 on Ch1 and 1.6 on Ch40. I used a MFJ antenna analyzer to fine tune the length and then confirmed it in operation with a SWR meter. I don't know why this installation wanted a longer than normal antenna. It has to be close to 120". I've been posting my antenna issues over on RadioReference as well. One of those guys might be able to explain it to me later.

Actually that's an older photo, but the idea is the same. The ground strap was not needed and one of the braces has been swapped out for a longer one now.

Thats good you dont venture into the woods. If you were to snag it you would would be probably getting a new tail light too.

You can see I got a ding on my fender from tree. Actually all mine have dings.

Got my oil changed and tires rotated at the dealer, since they had a $26.95 special. They also did a "free multi-point" inspection, but actually didn't find anything. Probably, because they were so busy dealing with getting a new order of used cars ready to sell. I also had them track down the A/C leak that I could never track down. They said it was in the compressor bearing, but wanted $600 for a new compressor. Screw that. I can get one at NAPA for less than half that. I'll take it to a local mechanic to replace, since I don't have the equipment for A/C evac and refill.
