Went and looked at a clean 2002 Gold Limited today and had cash in hand to buy it. (if you guys arent aware my current wj is in storage out of commission, and the plan was id swap my lift and everything to the new one) The CL ad said it was super clean with a rough idle. I called him and he said it randomly started idling rough and that there was no knocking or anything else wrong with the wj. I got excited thinking it may just be an IAC or TPS and that I could get him down to 2k from his 2.6 asking price.
Well once I got there things changed. Yes the interior looked almost new even after 11 years, but I popped the hood to find a brand new water pump up front and coolant stains sprayed on the hood and intake box. Opened the rad cap to find some awful looking coolant. Had him start it where some lovely blue smoke came out from the back and a knock was subtly present. Decided to check codes with the ignition trick. HOLY SH*T. After the NINTH (yes 9th) code popped up, I shut it off afraid for any more to come on. I don't know how long it would've gone on with codes, but I wasn't gonna stay and see. I was far gone by then.
Looks like I'll be searching a little while longer for a solution.
Put insulation around my AC 'box' under the dash trying to deal with the condensation issue. We'll see how it goes. Depending there may be a step two. Carpet still drying out so waiting to put everything back in.
The beatings will continue until attitudes improve!
Now it's time for some skids, sliders....and some dirt.

Had to add FM to my diffs.
Used Mobil 1 75w-140 LS back when I changed the gear oil, it had enough FM for the stock tires, guess the new tires have enough extra foot print that they don't slip as much as the stockers, she started complaining after getting the new Generals put on. Put approx. 2 oz. of the MoparFM in the rear and approx. 1 oz. in the front. She's happy again, no complainting, haven't had a chance to see how bad it hurt the "lock-up" ability off road, I probably won't be as happy as she is, they *were* locking in pretty tight and quick with the stocker tires.
Just noticed I've got 50 posts now, guess I'll have to think about posting a picture or 2.
Drove it to the Jack In The Box. While waiting in the drive-thru line, the A/C compressor seized. Pretty smoke billowed out from under the hood. Kinda wished it caught on fire for the insurance money. But, alas ordered a new one. It just never ends with a 13 year old Jeep. Next time I move, my first priority will be to make sure a JY is no more than 20 miles away. Currently have to drive 3 hours to find a decent one.
