Hello, my name's John and I'm a Jeepaholic...

This is my second thread to comment on since joining yesterday 03/02; I just wanted to pop in and let you know my activities involving a certain 2002 WJ VIN J of mine (I submitted a detailed synopsis of my Jeep story in my profile, so I won't go on about it here.)

Today I spent about 4 hours preparing my HO for removal, just a little more and it'll be ready. I removed the accessible bellhousing and engine mount bolts and starter within about 30 minutes. I intend to have the crank girdle off before the hoist removal to inspect the cylinder bores and crankshaft, and perhaps make the job (I'm doing this alone) a little easier, so I loosened all of the mounting bolts until being bathed in dripping oil; I left it to finish weeping (no, not me, the oil.)

I wanted to do more so I carefully removed the left head bolts in 4 stages, slipped the head enough out of the way so I could remove the intake manifold, then removed the head, and put the bolts away in their respective order. This head didn't have any dropped seats and looked ok for 98k miles, hopefully it can be rebuilt but I'm prepared for the worst. I took a few pictures to show my progress. The fourth and fifth show the rockerless valve stem jutting out and the thrown roller rocker above #8 cylinder, the last one shows the scraped up #8 rocker, I'm not sure yet whether it's the intake or exhaust. We shall see.

This and the post title made me laugh so hard. Haha

It's good to see someone else besides me take on a major project and not run to the dealership or their local money making shop when something bad happens. Lol I'm a shade tree mechanic to the core, I'm not afraid to take on a challenge.

Good job man, and good luck. Take lots of pictures....I'm afraid mines either thrown a rocker or needs a new timing set.

Yes, a good sense of humor and sharing with other backyard mechanics takes the lonliness away from working alone on a rig. I was laughing at myself as I was getting dripped on, proof that I'm no pro. But I'm confident and motivated.

Hmmm, I'm with you, keep us posted. I'd like to know what compression test results it would show. Cheers!

Cracked my rocker panel this weekend. Will be hitting the junk yard when I can.

Just a pic, not to show the rocker damage. It's right under the drivers door :crunch: but I can get another pic if anyone really wants one

Here's the link to the companies website. http://www.hanma-auto.com
You have to email a sales person to order them. I would recommend Sam. I tried to go through Vincent but he tried to double the price on them.
