Replaced passenger side door mirror last night that I lost on the trail last weekend. Door lock bar came un hinged so I'll have to pull the door panel off again tonight to finalize. Also cleaned out the entire inside. Couldn't stand having branches and dirt in there for the week.

Tranny gasket/filter change, new F passenger axle shaft

The old CV joint was not going to last much longer with a wide open boot and no lube.

Thanks to all who posted the procedure for swapping out the axle shafts!

I'm going to see if they will exchange them. I hate the color. Yes I spliced them in using crappy wire taps from autozone. I suggest you deffinately solder the connections! I'm going to redo them this weekend the keep getting loose and corroded. I will post up the colors this weekend. I had to use a meter and figure it out :-/

just did mine. use the pigtail on the middle parking bulb as thats the only one that doesn't flash. if i can remember correctly its brown with a purple tracer, but dont quote me on that.

since im not sure use a test light grounded on the battery, turn the parking lights on and poke to two wires to see which is the hot side.

Wj 2001 WJ Rear differential question. Help?

I just found out that I should be putting a bottle of friction modifier in my jeep every 15k. I don't think the people who owned the jeep before me would have known this either. How do I know if my differential is screwed?

My 4WD seems to work ok, but I've had to dig myself out of the snow a couple of times lately due to one wheel spinning and the others sitting still.
Annoyed.

Do you have Quadra-Drive or just Quadra-Trac II? If your shift plate doesn't say "Quadra-Drive" you shouldn't need the friction modifier in the axles.

and if its only one wheel per axle turning, thats perfectly normal with open differentails. search the threads for "lockers"

Even if it is the Quadra Drive with vari loc axles, you only add the friction modifier when you change the diff fluid. You need to use the gear oil and friction modifier sold by Dealer and it isn't cheap.

Sweet! The install is pretty straight forward, you will love it.

Here is the best way I have found to align the fog lights...

I set the bumper facing the ground so that you are looking straight down into the interior of the bumper. I set it on the grass, or a blanket to not scratch it. Then from behind I move the lights up/down left/right until it looks like the lights are facing straight towards the ground. The first time I did it, they were way off because the angle of the bumpers can disorient you. I was looking at the bumper instead of another fixed point. The front of the bumper is pretty flat, so this method gets the fog lights pretty straight.

I really need a CB.
