1.5 times the vehicles weight for a baseline of what your winch should be able to pull is what i've heard. mud sucking you down and getting over a rock can add a lot of weight.

It's a Jeep, it's not supposed to work right all the time.

i think, unless i come into money i'll end up with a mile marker 8k-8.5k. mile marker appears to be the most bang for your buck.

I got these 15''x8'' steel wheels (4 of them, the other 2 are under the towels) off craigslist a while ago and my wife decided to have them powder coated semi-gloss black for my birthday.

Changed engine oil and filter, replaced rear brake pads, adjusted hand brake shoes and check all transmission levels.

My 8500lb harbor freight (chicago electric) winch on my CJ has never failed me. I have pulled big body broncos and blazers as well as many huge trucks out of mud holes where people were buried up to the windows. Only once have I ever needed a snatch block and that was on a F450 that had a huge horse trailer still attatched. I thought my CJ-7 was gonna stretch to a Wagoneer! I think the 8000lb rating on the SB will be fine for the WJ. I just want it for a porta-winch on a reciever mount anyway. Anybody know of any front mount hitches besides the way over priced Warn? It is so simply constructed that I can't believe nobody else is making it.
