Wj Wanting wider tires (stickout 1.5+in)..Help w/spacers

Getting ready to put on new OME Lift (from Kolak), and need new rims/tires. Already decided on the BFG AT KO's, just not sure what size I should buy. If spacers will make the tires sitout a few inches (w/out significantly increasing chance of something breaking), I can get less wide tires. Make sense?

Any help would be appreciated, as I want to get these spacers and tires ordered asap. Also, I read and read on here, but still don't understand the whole backspacing thing. I assume that to increase backspacing would decrease the distance my tire will stickout from the wheel well/fender? If that is wrong, then this must really sound foolish.... Is backspacing increased to help decrease rubbing when turning full lock? Was thinking of going down to 16" rims so I can achieve the widest tire with less rubbing issues; and saw some posts (for Crager softs) referring to that..but was unsure.

Anyway, we don't really have an "offroad custom shop" where I live. So, any help given would be greatly appreciated. Please post pics and recommend spacers mfgs where possible.

Nice looking wj! Decided on 275/65/16 BFG AT KOs..thinking ion alloy 171 wheels 16x8..but still unsure about back spacing? How much should I be looking for to help set the tire out farther and give the best chance of clearing when turning full lock in parking lot?

Stock wheels have 6" backspacing I believe. Do you would want anywhere between 4-5" backspacing? Had same issue with my zr2. Stock wheels had 6" backspacing got new wheels with 4" backspacing and looks wicked now.

Yeah but be prepared to trim bumber, the further out the more trimming,

Another ex for ya, Girlyjeep have 17's 8.5" 4.5" bs MB TKO wheels with 255/65/17 tires,
They protrude 5mm~0.25"

I don't have pictures handy but 265/70/16s on stock wheels with 1 1/4" spacers sits perfect. Tread is right at the edge of the fenders..

After 3 wheel orders and two refunds due to backorders...I think I finally got the final setup. Hopefully it wont rub too much, but at this point I just want to get them in hand and on the truck. Planning on BFG AT KO 275/65/17 (had to go back to 17 to get the wheels I wanted) and Vision Scorpion 17"x9 wheels (-12offset, 4.5bs)...not going with spacers. Any feedback on whether this will rub at "lock" in the parking lot?

FYI: directlinewheels.com has been FANTASTIC to work with. Best customer service Ive ever seen. If you need any wheels I highly recommend them; call and speak with Steve (owner).

The 275/65/17 were too snug. Couldnt turn much w out significant rub. The guys at discounttire here in Lafayette were terrific and test fit some cooper 265/65/17s (on my new wheels and one of their wheels with different bs)...so we ended up leaving it on the rack and reordering 265/65/17s BFG AT KO's...they had only slight rub. I will post pics pics of the 275/65/17s later...

Here she is with her 265/65/17s...

Thanks to everyone who helped answer (the same newbie questions...and a big shout out to discounttire (who after all that STILL price matched, saving me $150.00).
